It constitutes the legal and authentic proof of the marital bond of the husband and wife, it specifies the marital status chosen by the spouses, the obligations and duties of marriage, and facilitates access to the right of inheritance in the event of death.
How and where to obtain a marriage certificate in Mali?
To register your marriage, you must provide your birth certificate extracts, your identity cards and copies of your witnesses; identity cards. At the town hall, your marriage is celebrated by the mayor or one of his deputies responsible for civil status in your presence and your two witnesses. Your marriage certificate extract is issued on site after the celebration of your marriage.
If you want to enter into a legally recognized marriage, you must be at least 16 years old for the woman with the consent of her parents and 18 years old for the man. For your marriage to be validated by the mayor, you must pay the entire dowry.
